Grammar Concept (语法概念):

Fundamental English sentence structure S+V+O and simple verb tenses. Students learn that English sentences typically follow a Subject-Verb-Object order, unlike Korean (which often uses Subject-Object-Verb order).

For example, English “Tom eats an apple.” corresponds to Chinese “汤姆吃一个苹果。” (also SVO) and Korean “톰이 사과를 먹어요.” (SOV). The concept of verb tense is introduced with the simple present (“I play”) and simple past (“I played”) forms.

It’s highlighted that Chinese verbs do not change form for tense (昨天/今天都用同样的动词形式), whereas Korean verbs change endings for past (-았/었다) and future, similar to English adding “-ed” for past.

Application Activity (应用活动):

The student practices forming simple sentences in English.

First, they label the subject, verb, and object in easy sentences (e.g. “She reads books.” / 她读书。 / 그녀는 책을 읽어요.) to ensure they identify each part.

Next, they convert a set of present-tense sentences to past tense, writing both the English and a translation. For example, given “Today I walk to school,” they write “Yesterday I walked to school.” and note in Chinese that we add “了” (了表示过去) but the verb form stays the same, and in Korean we add -었- (오늘 학교에 걸어가요 → 어제 학교에 걸어갔어요).

They also change singular nouns to plural (one book -> two books, noting the “-s” plural ending that Chinese lacks, 对于名词复数中文用数量词, and Korean indicates quantity with a counter or context).

Mini-Assessment (迷你评估):

A brief quiz on sentence building.

The student arranges word cards (or jumbled words) into a correct English SVO sentence and changes one or two verbs from present to past. For example, jumbled words “yesterday / park / to / went / we / the” should be arranged into “We went to the park yesterday.”.

They self-check using an answer key or have the tutor verify. Any mistakes help pinpoint if they need extra practice with word order or verb endings.
