Island Education Programme
Learning from Jersey’s Land, Sea & Story
This programme invites Jersey’s children and young people to learn from the land, sea, and stories of the Island.
Rooted in Jersey’s unique ecosystems and cultural heritage, Island Education Programme is a place-based learning experience that connects students to the natural world and the communities around them.
Through hands-on exploration, creative expression, and critical inquiry, the programme fosters a deep sense of belonging, curiosity, and responsibility.
Students discover why Jersey matters — not only as a biodiversity hotspot and historical landmark, but as a living, breathing environment that needs care and understanding. From building their own ecosystems to investigating island traditions and sustainable practices, learners are guided to ask:
What can we learn from our island, and how can we give back to it?
Designed for KS1 and KS2, and adaptable across age groups, this programme can be delivered as:
A standalone programme
A modular curriculum unit
Or a school partnership model with co-designed projects, discovery kits, and optional live facilitation or workshops.
